borg (e)cocker. electronic 6-way, pic-controlled, backblocksensor. very easy on paintballs because of seperate pressures for cocking and opening.

HALO M prototype. ~30 balls per second (burst) due to new working principle for drivetrain. SMD 12F Atmel, because i could not wait until my new supply of DILs arrived.

hoppercam and HUD to shoot around corners. with infraredbooster to see at night.

datapod. just in case i need some transportable processing power while playing paintball. custom built, 68K cpu with 512K Ram, accumulators keep it alive for only 3 hours :(

Sweet jesus...How does the camera mount to the gun and connect to the mask? And whats a datapod? Awesome stuff...

GOD i need to learn how to make one of these

Hey, I'm working on making a night vision paintball mask... with J Leland^^ and we have been trying to figure out what the best way of doing it is... There is also the possibility that we can hook the camera onto the paintball gun, but that might be more troublesome (both mounting it and using it). Do you have any suggestions?

Who is J Leland?

Hints: Don't mount the camera on the gun. It will only irritate you. All cameras are sensitive to infrared light. You may have to remove the infrared-filter on some models. Just illuminate your surroundings with infrared light (LEDs) and you are done.

J Leland is the guy who first posted here.

OK, so the camera would be best on the mask. We are using the CVS disposable cameras, which were "altered" to accept infrared. The only problem is that we cant seem to get the IR light from our LEDs to go very far. J Leland loaded 2 flashlights with 3 IRLEDs each onto his gun, and he cant see very far with the light produced. I guessed the problem was that he accidentally ruined the reflectors on the flashlights when he replaced the original LEDs (there ended up being superglue on them), but I dont think that that would mess up the illumination too badly. Hopefully we can mess with this enough to get good results, and play nighttime paintball in the forest reserve behind my house. If you want me to update you on our progress on our rookie experiment, I would be glad to. Thanks a lot for your input, it will save us A WHOLE LOT of time.

MLo: I used an whole array of high power infared-LEDs (you can see them on the picture). To use just 3 LEDs will not help you.

OK... thanks for the advice!

Hey,
I'm trying to do something like this with my A5. My current plan is to use a camera and 2.5in LCD that are meant for use on a car as a backup camera, and mounting both on the marker. I will replace the stock front sight with the camera at this link (http://cgi.ebay.com/CCTV-Waterproof-Infrared-Car-Rear-View-Color-Camera-S4_W0QQitemZ120133662899QQihZ002QQcategoryZ48605QQtcZphotoQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) and place the monitor at this link (http://cgi.ebay.com/2-5-TFT-Color-LCD-Monitor-for-Wireless-Camera-Car_W0QQitemZ300121587213QQihZ020QQcategoryZ48635QQtcZphotoQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) on the rear weaver with some kind of swivel so I can turn it and shoot around corners. I plan on armoring the screen with something hard like lexan. My only problem (that I can see right now, as I am a liberal arts major) is figuring out how to power these, which normally run off of a car's 12v power system. Any suggestions?
I would much preffer a set up like yours, where you have a HMD (Head Mounted Display) right there on your goggles just like the real landwarrior. The thing is, I cannot find an HMD like yours, and those that I have found either cover both eyes, or are way too expensive to use just for paintball. Could you tell me what you used for your HMD?
I really appreciate the help. Anything you can do to help me get through this project, which I am doing entirely just for fun, would be really appreciated. Thanks man.

One more thing. Have you tried this thing out? How well does it work in real life? Should I use a better camera? Maybe one that can zoom in? Does the HMD make you sick? Do you have trouble getting a bead on the target? I think that enough for now. Thanks again.

[ mnt | the codeninja, 25.06.07 22:30 ]
HMD: I totally replaced the optics of a videocamera viewfinder.
Tried out: Yes, several times, indoor and outdoors.
Zoom: You get tunnel vision. A camera on a gun is useful for (covert) orientation only, not for aiming.
Sick: No, does not make me sick.
Target: I don't use it to target.

Could you please make a tutorial on how to make it? (A) :)

Why do you need a six way? And plese in epth tell how this monster works.

[ mnt | the codeninja, 16.09.08 11:54 ]
A six-way so i can have seperate pressures for the ram. High pressure to move to bolt backwards very fast (and to move the hammer into position), low pressure to close the bolt (and avoid squishing paint).

Works even in electronic mode.
